The sea turtle conservation program, implemented by Con Dao National Park in collaboration with Six Senses Con Dao, has reached a milestone: over 35,000 hatchlings have been successfully hatched and returned to their natural environment. Launched in 2018, the program aims to strengthen sea turtle conservation capacity in Con Dao. Within the framework of the program, an incubation center was built within the resort, becoming the second sea turtle incubation center on the archipelago. This center receives nests needing to be relocated from areas at risk of tidal surges, erosion, or predators. The turtle eggs are monitored and protected for approximately 60 days before hatching and being returned to the ocean.
In the last three years, the hatching rate of turtle eggs at the center has reached approximately 83%. This rate is higher than the global average of 60-80% cited by the center. The resort is located on the 1.8 km long Dat Doc beach, within the buffer zone of Con Dao National Park. This is one of the few beaches in Vietnam that still maintains a relatively intact natural ecosystem and is strictly protected. The prohibition of motorized water sports , limited nighttime lighting, and the maintenance of a minimally disturbed beach environment are considered favorable conditions for mother turtles to return to nest annually.

The sea turtle breeding season in Con Dao usually lasts from around May to December. During this time, some tourists staying at the resort have the opportunity to witness baby turtles being released into the ocean under the guidance of the conservation team. The experience is organized with the principle of minimizing impact on sea turtles, while also helping tourists better understand the breeding process, the threats to nests, and the role of protecting natural nesting grounds.
Con Dao Island is one of the important breeding grounds for sea turtles in Vietnam. Watching turtles lay eggs and releasing hatchlings back into the sea has become a unique nature experience, attracting many tourists in recent years.

From the beginning of 2026 to the present, Con Dao has welcomed over 410,000 visitors, including more than 23,800 international tourists. The average occupancy rate is approximately 62%. Currently, Con Dao has 141 accommodation establishments with about 2,900 rooms. In the context of a continuing increase in visitor numbers and accommodation infrastructure, controlling light, noise, and beach activities is considered crucial for protecting the sea turtle breeding environment.
